History
SNK Playmore put out Metal Slug XX in 2009 as an upgraded edition of Metal Slug 7. Along with tweaks to the stages and difficulty, it brought back two-player co-op, a series trademark ever since the very first Metal Slug.
The headline addition to the cast was Leona Heidern, the soldier from The King of Fighters, who joins Marco, Tarma, Eri, Fio, Ralf, and Clark. It's one of the rare times the series pulled in a fresh face from another SNK franchise.
How to play
One button shoots, one jumps, and one throws grenades. Push right, free prisoners for weapons like the heavy machine gun, flamethrower, or laser, and hop into any vehicle you find: tanks, mechs, and plenty of stranger stuff.
Each character plays a little differently: Ralf and Clark bring their King of Fighters brawling moves, and Leona has her own special attacks. In XX it's worth trying them all, because how you handle each boss changes a lot depending on who you pick.
