Rampage was pure destruction with your friends. Three players at once, each with a giant monster, climbing skyscrapers and punching them into rubble while the army tried to stop you. The best part was when you ended up slugging your buddy instead of the building, and the argument carried over to the next cabinet.

It's not playable in our arcade yet, but it's on the UsuArcade wish list, and your votes can bring it in sooner.

History

Bally Midway released it in 1986 as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to giant monster movies. The heroes, if you can call them that, are three people turned into huge creatures by experiments gone wrong: George the ape, Lizzie the lizard and Ralph the wolf.

The game spawned sequels and home versions on all kinds of systems, and the monster trio even inspired a Hollywood movie decades later.

How to play

Climb up the side of a building and punch it until it collapses. Level the whole city and you move on to the next one. Soldiers, tanks and helicopters come after you along the way, and you can swat them back or even snack on a soldier to get some health back.

Careful what you grab through the windows: some food heals you, but some things hurt. Run out of energy and your monster shrinks back into a human and shuffles off the screen, embarrassed, to the delight of everyone watching.

Fun facts

  • The three monsters are named George, Lizzie and Ralph.
  • Up to three people could play at the same time.
  • When you run out of energy, your monster turns back into a human and walks off.

In the arcade

Rampage is on the wish list: coming soon to UsuArcade. Vote with the “I Want to Play It” button to move it up the line of games to add.

In the meantime, if group chaos is your thing, you can already brawl with friends in Final Fight and Golden Axe, or team up in Bubble Bobble, all with spectators, chat and arcade high scores.

Once Rampage lands in the arcade, you'll be able to play it online two-player, each on your own phone or PC, in the same game.
