Knights of the Round was the perfect cabinet to hit with two buddies: everyone called dibs on a knight and charged into a medieval quest full of soldiers, giants and horses you could hop on mid-fight. On top of that, your character leveled up and got new armor, which made you want to push just a little farther with every quarter.

History
Capcom released Knights of the Round in 1991, right in the middle of its beat 'em up hot streak after Final Fight. This time the inspiration was the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, on a quest for the Holy Grail.
It stood out for two ideas you didn't often see in the genre: a leveling system that powers up your character based on the points you earn, and a block that, used right, lets you hang in there a lot longer.
How to play
Choose Arthur, the all-rounder; Lancelot, fast with a light blade; or Percival, slow but devastating with his axe. You fight your way across each stage, attacking, jumping and chaining hits. Rack up points and treasure and your knight levels up, gets stronger and shows off new armor.
There's a block that stops enemy hits if you time it just right, and mastering it is the difference between reaching the boss or not. Hop on a horse whenever you find one, and press attack and jump together for a special move that costs a little health. Grab every bit of gold and treasure you see: besides points, it gets you closer to your next level.

- Some stages let you fight on horseback.
