If the first Puzzle Bobble hooked half the arcade, the sequel made it the rivalry machine. Two players side by side, firing bubbles as fast as they could and dumping garbage rows on each other's side. It was one of those cabinets that pulled in people who didn't normally play anything else.

It's not playable in our arcade yet, but it's on the UsuArcade wish list, and your votes can move it up.

History

Taito released it in 1995, just a year after the original, once again starring Bub and Bob, the little dragons from Bubble Bobble. In North America the series is known as Bust-a-Move, and this one came over as Bust-a-Move Again.

It kept everything that worked and added more stages, branching routes in single-player and a tighter versus mode, against either the CPU or another person.

How to play

Aim the launcher at the bottom and fire colored bubbles. Connect three or more of the same color and they pop, taking down anything that was hanging from them. Bank shots off the walls to slip bubbles into tight spots. Every so often the ceiling drops, and if the bubbles reach the bottom line, you lose.

In single-player you clear stages and choose your route, so every run can take you through different boards. In versus, everything you drop sends extra bubbles to your opponent's side, and one big chain can flip a match in a second.

Fun facts

  • It came to North America as Bust-a-Move Again.
